As a career Airforce man, fourteen years ago Chris Gibson was asked by his current day business partner, Del Crabtree, ‘What are you going to do when you retire?’ Fast forward to June 2009, upon military retirement, Chris joined Del’s business, Northgate Barber Shop and the esteemed ranks of barbers nationwide!
With a desire to expand from their former Bozeman location, this hair cutting duo received minimal help from local banks. Kudos to Prospera Business Network in helping them to quickly secure a loan enabling them to grow from 265 to 750 square feet in their new space allowing three chairs and a wheel chair accessible station to serve disabled customers. With Air Force memorabilia throughout, including a laser etched F-16 and Chris’ Commendation medals showcasing his years of service, the shop boasts a large and passionate professional and veteran clientele. “Working with Prospera was fast and easy. The funding provided us the opportunity to get a better, larger shop enabling us to keep up with the growing demand in Belgrade and Bozeman for men who want an ‘Old Fashioned’ barber shop instead of a chain.”
‘Clients come in and expect a joke, comradery and great service…it’s fun, you sit, BS, share military stories. Hair cuts, razor cuts, a shave and plenty of joking!’ With a twinkle in his eye, Chris shares, ‘Del and I both bring a lot to the table, not all of it’s good!’ From the amount of business they’ve enjoyed since their November 2017 move, they clearly share something ‘good!’
